Erin Kopinak rejoined the Lynchburg men's and women's golf programs as the associate head coach for both teams in August 2023 after a three-month hiatus. She serves as the associate head coach for both men's and women's teams as well as the academic support coordinator for the athletic department.Â
Kopinak first joined the Lynchburg golf staff in the summer of 2021 as a graduate assistant. She coached both the men's and women's golf teams at Lynchburg and also served as the travel coordinator.Â
During the 2021-22 campaign, Kopinak helped coach the women's team to a record season. The Hornets won four tournaments including the Hill City Invitational hosted at the team's home course, Boonsboro Country Club. Kopinak also saw two players onto the all-conference team. Emily Brubaker won four tournaments individually including becoming the program's first Old Dominion Athletic Conference champion. Kopinak traveled with Brubaker to the NCAA tournament in Houston, Tex. as the sophomore represented the Hornets in the national tournament for the first time in program history.Â
On the men's side in 2021-22, the Hornets placed in the top-5 of four tournaments and set a program record for scoring average at 298.6.
In 2022-23, four women's golfer earned All-America Scholar awards, and Harrison Smith and Andrew Watson were tabbed as All-American Scholars for the second-consecutive season. Both men's and women's team placed second at the conference championships, the men had a record four All-ODAC winners, and the women's team saw two players win all-conference accolades. Brubaker followed up her impressive sophomore campaign with an all-region performance as a junior.Â
Kopinak brings a wealth of golf and college athletics experience with her, having interned at the University of Windsor and with Golf Canada during her undergraduate years.
A native of Tilbury, Ontario, Canada, Kopinak played collegiately at NCAA Division I institutions Alcorn State and Delaware State. She graduated from DSU in 2020 with a degree in sport management and is pursuing an M.Ed. in curriculum and instruction at Lynchburg.
