#11 LC field hockey loses to #6 Salisbury
NEWPORT NEWS, VA- The Lynchburg field hockey team lost to the sixth-ranked Salisbury University by a score of 5-1 on the campus of Christopher Newport University in non-conference play on Wednesday.
Salisbury took a three-goal lead in the first half which included two goals by Sea Gulls forward Caitlin Walker. Facing a 3-0 deficit, Lynchburg answered back at the 26:56 mark of the second half with a goal from sophomore Shelly Milks (Gloucester, VA/Gloucester) who was assisted by junior Amanda Wain (Fairfax, VA/Oakton).
Milks continues to have a breakout sophomore campaign as she has 10 goals on the season and sits third on the team in goals and points this season.
Salisbury added two more goals from Katy Lamboni and Amber Holland to push the score to 5-1. Sea Gulls goalie Anna Cooke made four saves in the game.
Lynchburg junior goalie Tiffany Frye (Williamsburg, VA/Bruton) made three saves on the day and freshman Hannah Myers (Stafford, VA/Colonial Forge) had four saves.
Lynchburg will be in action again on Friday night when they host Bridgewater College at 7 p.m. for senior night.
