LC Defeats Bridgewater 4-1 to Clinch Regular-Season ODAC Title
Jenny Weir Breaks Career Assist Record

LYNCHBURG, VA - The 11th-ranked Lynchburg College field hockey team clinched the regular-season Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) title Friday evening with a 4-1 victory over visiting Bridgewater College on Senior Night. The Hornets will enter next weekend's ODAC Tournament as the #1 seed and will attempt to capture the program's fifth-straight crown and 14th overall.

Senior attack Jenny Weir (Richmond, VA/James River) posted two goals and an assist in her last regular-season game on Shellenberger Field to break the school's career assist record. Weir now has 42 career helpers, passing Kara Summers '94 old mark of 41.

Weir collected a rebound in front of the cage and scored just 2:33 into the game to give LC an early 1-0 advantage. Weir assisted Lindsay Leonard (Yorktown, VA/Grafton) at 22:30 to break the school record and the Hornets took the 2-0 lead into intermission. Haili Hartman (Centreville, VA/Centreville) and Weir both added unassisted goals before Bridgewater scored as the game clock expired. Rachael Keshishian found the back of the net from Megan Bach to put the Eagles on the scoreboard.

Taylor Waddell was outstanding in net for Bridgewater (9-6/3-3 ODAC), making 23 stops and the Eagles made two defensive saves. LC (12-3/6-0 ODAC) out-shot its guests 40-6 and held a 16-2 edge in penalty corners.

The Hornets travel to St. Mary's (MD) for a non-conference game Sunday at 2 p.m.
