Lindsay Leonard Scores in OT as LC Field Hockey Defeats St. Mary's 2-1

                ST MARY'S CITY, MD - Sophomore Lindsay Leonard (Yorktown, VA/Grafton) scored five minutes into overtime to lift the 11th-ranked Lynchburg College field hockey team to a 2-1 win at St. Mary's College in non-conference play.

  Senior defender Caitlin Gibb (Northeast, MD/Rising Sun) scored on a penalty stroke 13:40 into the game and LC entered halftime ahead 1-0. Natalie Hackstaff scored an unassisted goal for the Seahawks at 42:44 to tie the game and neither team could score in regulation. Shelly Milks (Gloucester, VA/Gloucester) assisted Leonard's game winning tally with a crossing pass at 75:23.

                The Hornets dominated the statistical categories, out-shooting St. Mary's 20-5 with a 25-5 edge in penalty corners. Lydia Garcia made eight stops for St. Mary's (11-5).

                Lynchburg (13-3) travels to Eastern Mennonite University for an Old Dominion Athletic Conference game Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
