Shenandoah Downs LC Women 57-36

            WINCHESTER, VA - The Shenandoah University women's basketball team jumped out to a 20-5 lead and went on to defeat Lynchburg College 57-36 in a non-conference matchup. It was the first game of the season for both squads.

            Defense was the story as SU forced 31 turnovers and held LC to 23 percent shooting (12-52) from the floor.

            Junior Katie Crump (Burke, VA/Lake Braddock) paced LC with 13 points and nine rebounds. Leah Bonuccelli (Fairfax Station, VA/W. T. Woodson) added nine points and Rebecca Speck (Vienna, VA/James Madison) contributed five points and five rebounds. Roslyn Alexander (Chesapeake, VA/Shenendehowa) posted four points and six rebounds in her first collegiate game. Lynchburg held a 46-37 edge in total rebounds.

            Sierra Edwards led Shenandoah with 14 points and nine boards. Haley Smith added 17 points.

            LC travels to the Emory & Henry College Tournament this Saturday and Sunday.
