Bosco Nets Three as LC Women's Soccer Shuts Out Emory & Henry
LYNCHBURG, VA – Sophomore Angela Bosco registered three goals on Saturday as the Lynchburg College women's soccer team defeated Emory & Henry College 8-0 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Tournament quarterfinal round.
Bosco scored the game's first two goals with the first coming at 12:24 and the second at 19:30 to give LC a 2-0 advantage. Freshman Dessi Dupuy added her 27th goal of the season at 22:54 for a 3-0 Hornet lead.
Junior Shelley Hoath tallied a score a 29:43, which was followed by Bosco's third goal of the afternoon just 43 seconds later for a 5-0 advantage. Junior Kristen Melchiori sent the Hornets to halftime leading 6-0, after a tally at 40:41 from sophomore Grace Withers.
Freshmen Kara Schaffer and Anne Neville Broaddus each added a score in the second half to give the Hornets a 8-0 final. With the eight goals on the afternoon, Lynchburg reached the 100-goal mark for the season for only the third time in program history.
Goalkeepers Haley Poland and Sarah Jerome each made seven saves for Emory & Henry (9-8-1) in the game.
LC outshot Emory & Henry 39-2 and held a 7-0 advantage in corner kicks.
Lynchburg (17-2-1) will host the winner of the Washington & Lee University and Bridgewater College game next Wednesday at a time to be announced. W&L and Bridgewater play on Sunday at 2 p.m.
