Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg women's soccer team had four student-athletes earn a spot on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team, announced on Tuesday.
The Hornets were represented on the CSC Academic All-District Team by
Kate Shepherd,
Sammie Rogstad,
Lauren Orner, and
Ava Olson. To be selected to the CSC Academic All-District teams, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5-or-above. They also must have competed in 90 percent of the program's games played or have started in at least two-thirds of the institution's contests.
All four of Lynchburg's representatives started in all 19 games this season and made significant contributions on the field. Shepherd boasted a .832 save percentage and was the starter for 11 total shutouts this season. Rogstad was an impact defender, contributing to that shutout total while also dishing out four assists on the offensive end. Orner was a key attacking piece and scored the second-most goals on the team with eight, while Olson impacted the middle of the field accruing the sixth-most minutes on the squad and tallying a goal and assist.
