DEMOREST, GA – The Lynchburg College baseball team fell into a 7-0 hole early and could not overcome the deficit, eventually losing 13-4 to Piedmont College in non-conference play on Friday afternoon.
Sophomore third baseman Michael Del Buono (Clifton, VA/Robinson) went 2-4 in the game with two RBI.
Piedmont's offense was overpowering, going up 7-0 going into the seventh inning. Del Buono doubled in the top of the seventh to cut the deficit to five, only to have Piedmont score six more runs in the next two innings.
Sophomore Michael Kenah (Clifton, VA/Robinson) and freshman John Wallace (Concord, NC/Northwest Cabarrus) scored runs in the top of the ninth but the Hornets could not mount a successful comeback.
Curtis Cornett had three RBI and Kyle Davis went 4-5 scoring two RBI, leading the way for the Lions (3-3).
Lynchburg (3-3) will play Birmingham Southern tomorrow at 3 p.m. at Piedmont College.
