Hornet Baseball Falls to Greensboro 7-3
GREENSBORO, NC – Facing an early deficit, the Lynchburg College baseball team was unable to comeback against Greensboro College on Sunday afternoon, falling 7-3 in non-conference play.
Junior Michael Kenah went 2-4 on the day with two RBI, while fellow junior Brock Shiflett went 2-4 also with one RBI.
Lynchburg scored the first run of the game off an RBI single from Shiflett who plated senior Richard Palase. Greensboro answered back in the bottom of the frame with three runs while adding another in the second inning.
Down 4-1 in the top of the third inning, LC fought back with a two-run single from Kenah who knocked in Shiflett and sophomore Zach Fitzpatrick. The Pride put up a run in both the seventh and eighth inning while keeping the Hornets off the board, eventually winning 7-3.
Freshman Martin Henderlite (0-1) earned the first start of his collegiate career, pitching three innings, before giving way to senior Jared Millner and sophomore Michael Mansfield. Millner pitched four and two-thirds innings on the day, giving up five hits.
Matthew Parker and Steven Pfeiffer led Greensboro (3-2) with two RBI each. Ramel Graham got his first win of the season on the hill for the Pride and John Atkins registered the save.
Lynchburg (1-1) hosts Stevenson University on Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the first home game of the season for the Hornets.
