Hornet Baseball Continues Offensive Surge, Defeats NC Wesleyan 11-1

LYNCHBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College baseball team proved once again why they are one of the top hitting teams in the NCAA Division III on Friday with an 11-1 win over N.C. Wesleyan College in non-conference play. With the win, Lynchburg has now hit the 20-win mark for the 12th-straight season.

Using a balanced attack, eight different Hornet batters registered an RBI. Juniors Dan Savage and Ashton Paige each had two RBI to lead LC.

Lynchburg produced three runs in the first inning and never looked back. Savage, Paige and freshman Jay Kenyon all put up an RBI in the frame. LC then added two runs in the bottom of the third from Savage and Paige again.

Sophomore Zach Fitzpatrick and junior Michael Del Buono each tallied an RBI in the fourth before N.C. Wesleyan tallied a run in the top of the fifth.

Freshman Pat Harris knocked in a sacrifice fly in the fifth for an 8-1 Lynchburg lead. Junior Michael Kenah tripled in a run and scored on an error in the sixth before sophomore Jake Tanner picked up his first RBI of the season for an eventual 11-1 victory for the Hornets.

Senior Jared Millner pitched five innings, earning the win while only giving up one run and striking out five. Sophomore Trevor Johnston pitched four innings and didn't give up a run which qualified for his first save of the year.

Kaleb Wessell took the loss for N.C. Wesleyan (15-19) while Tyler Clark had the only RBI for the Battling Bishops.

Lynchburg (20-6) heads to Roanoke College on Saturday for a doubleheader beginning at noon.
