#9 Lynchburg Men's Lacrosse Score Come-From-Behind Win

LANCASTER, PA – The #9 Lynchburg College men's lacrosse team came back from an early two-goal deficit and another one-goal disadvantage to win 6-4 at Franklin and Marshall College on a rainy Saturday.

The contest started slow for both teams, with Tristan Miller scoring the first goal of the game for the Diplomats.  Lynchburg thought they responded at the end of the quarter, but a stick check ruled the goal invalid and F&M was awarded a three-minute penalty.  Miller tallied his second of the game 25 seconds into the second period to give Franklin and Marshall a two-goal lead.  Ben Ross assisted on the man-up goal.

Lynchburg would respond in the period after a Diplomat turnover.  LC sent two shots wide of the cage, but retained possession on each.  The third time proved to be the charm, as Pat Ohrem put his third shot of the year in the back of the net.  The Hornets cut the lead further during a man-down situation.  The defense stopped F&M and had a successful clear before getting the ball to Ohrem.  He attracted three Diplomat defenders and found Derek Sweet wide open next to the net.  Sweet faked out Cameron Setian, before finishing.

Franklin and Marshall then came back to take a one-goal lead right before the half, as Miller completed his hat trick with only 12 seconds on the clock.

The third quarter featured only one goal, as Cullan Ganley did everything for the Hornets in the sequence.  Ganley caused Miller to turn the ball over, then sprinted down the field, and sent his shot by Setian to tie the game.

F&M was called for a penalty as the time expired in the third and LC would take advantage of the opportunity.  Campbell Armstrong took a feed from Aaron Murphy just inside the box and fired a rocket into the back of the net, for Lynchburg's first lead of the game.  The Hornets extended the advantage off of goals by Austin Stewart and Ohrem, with five minutes left.  John Barney scored for F&M with 3:46 left in the game to cut the deficit, but the Diplomats would get no closer.

Both goalies made 10 saves in the game, with Adam Davey winning his second-straight start.  TJ Tynan won seven of 12 face-offs for Franklin and Marshall (0-1).  Tommy Kestermann caused three turnovers and scooped up four groundballs to lead the LC defense.

Lynchburg (2-0) will once again have a week to prepare for its next opponent.  The Hornets will host #5 Cabrini College on Saturday at 1 p.m.
