LYNCHBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College baseball team ended its season Saturday afternoon with an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) doubleheader defeat at the hands of Bridgewater College, 2-1 and 3-2, on Senior Day.

Martin Henderlite kept the Hornets alive in game one, pitching 8 1/3 innings on two-run ball while striking out seven and walking three.

LC took an early lead in the game when Dustin Arrowood singled to left and was advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Pat Harris. Jake Tanner stepped into the box and doubled to the wall in left field to score Arrowood for a 1-0 lead.

An RBI single by Bryan Sanderson in the fifth and a sacrifice fly by Ryan Smith in the eighth gave the lead to Bridgewater, while handing Henderlite his first loss since March 2.

Lynchburg took another early lead in game two when Rob Tomasulo, who reached on a walk, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. An RBI double by Lincoln Evans plated the first run of the game.

Bridgewater scored in the fifth on an RBI double by Sanderson to tie the game before plating the winning runs on a throwing error and a sacrifice fly in the eighth.

Dan Savage tried to rally the Hornets, driving in a run with a blooper to right-center in the ninth to cut the lead to 3-2, but was stranded at first base.

Matt Matthews pitched one of the best games of his career, drawing the start in game two. The freshman went six innings, allowing one run on seven hits with a walk and five strikeouts.

Nick Corbin picked up two saves for Bridgewater (28-9/19-1 ODAC) on the day to help the Eagles secure the top seed in the ODAC Tournament next week.
