Multiple Hornets Carry Field Hockey Past Sweet Briar 6-0
AMHERST, VA - The Lynchburg College field hockey team got production from a couple new faces on Wednesday as the Hornets defeated Sweet Briar College 6-0 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action.
Meredith Bradsher started the scoring at 8:20 when she chipped the rebound over the goalkeeper Katie Torretti's head. It was one of three first half goals given up by Torretti who made 17 saves on the afternoon.
Lacey Elliott found Grace Ann Edgerton inside the circle for the Hornets second score. Elliott collected another assist seven minutes later when she found Megan Tillou off a penalty corner for her first goal of the season.
Morgan Lammando slammed in a rebound at 58:12 before Molly Carr scored her first career goal three minutes later.
Catherine Rogerson went up the right side and found Taylor Quillen in the circle for the Hornets' final tally at 66:26 to close out the afternoon.
Beka Hess earned the win in cage for the Hornets after playing the first half. Sarah Suter played the entire second half for Lynchburg.
Eve Mergenthaler added to her national lead in defensive saves with one in the game for Sweet Briar (1-13/0-5).
Lynchburg (11-6/6-0) travels to Virginia Wesleyan College (3-11/1-4) for a 1 p.m. ODAC start on Saturday afternoon.
