Hornets Score 19 in Victory over Randolph

LYNCHBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College Men's Lacrosse team scored the first 14 goals of the game and defeated crosstown Randolph College 19-2 on Tuesday in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play.

After winning the initial faceoff, but failing to connect on the following shot, the WildCats held onto the ball for nearly six minutes.  The Hornets finally took possession on offense and the onslaught began at 8:30.  Austin Stewart scored his first of the game at that point and the game would be no closer.

Stewart and fellow starting attackmen Todd Galvin both notched hat tricks in the win, and Charlie Oldendorp and Campbell Armstrong scored two on the night.  Chris Hower, Mike Rhea, Daniel Owens, Ryan Kardux, Berk Ellis, Tyler Bringman, Thomas Rodenhouse, Dane Angell, and Aaron Murphy were the other goal scorers for the Hornets.  Murphy and Oldendorp had career-high in assists with five and three respectively.  David Alyanakian, Cullan Ganley, and Hunter Thompson tallied the other helpers in the game for LC.

Harrison Brennan had one of his best days at the faceoff 'X', going 9-12 against John Grundy Jr., who had one of the top percentages in the ODAC coming into the game.  Brennan also picked up six groundballs in the victory.  Ellis, Troy Foreit, and Rhea each scooped up four in a game in which the Hornets had 46 to their opponents 22.

Colton Wood and Brian Crosby were the goal scorers for Randolph (4-6 overall, 0-4 ODAC).  LC was once again stellar in the clear category on the stat sheet and had nearly triple the shots of the WildCats in the game (60-21).

Lynchburg (8-4, 3-1) ends the current road trip on Saturday night.  The Hornets face Hampden-Sydney College (7-4, 5-0) in an important game which will go a long way towards ODAC-tournament seeding.
