Dickinson Defeats #20 LC Field Hockey 2-0
Lynchburg, VA – The Lynchburg College field hockey team lost a close non-conference game against Dickinson College Sunday afternoon by a final score of 2-0.
It was a tight contest between the two teams resulting in a tie score at the half. Dickinson broke the scoreless stalemate early in the second half with a goal from Merritt Davis off a penalty corner inserted by Amber Dey. Caroline Karwel scored off a rebound eight minutes later to give the Red Devils a more comfortable lead.
Lynchburg was unable to find the cage despite 11 shots. Five of those came from Danielle Kreider on the attack.
Penalty corners were even throughout the game (Lynchburg 10 – Dickinson 9). Beka Hess provided eight saves for the Hornets on 17 shots from the opposition, while Emily Fuss posted a shutout in goal for Dickinson (6-1).
The Hornets (2-4) will play their first Old Dominion Athletic Conference game of the season as they host Washington and Lee University Wednesday at 6 p.m.
