Hornet Field Hockey Scores 3-0 ODAC Win over W&L

LYNCHBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College field hockey team posted a 3-0 victory over visiting Washington & Lee University Wednesday in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) opener for both squads.

Senior attack Kelsey Link got the Hornets on the scoreboard with an unassisted tally at the 11:37 mark of the first half. The 1-0 score held through halftime until Taylor Quillen recovered a loose ball off the W&L goalie pads and found the back of the cage at 51:43. Morgan Lammando blasted in an insurance tally with five minutes remaining to seal the victory.

Sophomore goalie Beka Hess made seven stops to record the shutout for Lynchburg. Megan Axelrod recorded five stops for the Generals (4-3/1-0 ODAC).

W&L outshot the Hornets 15-11 and were awarded eight penalty corners to LC's three.

Lynchburg (3-4/1-0 ODAC) hosts Salisbury University, the second-ranked team in NCAA Division III, Saturday at noon.
