Hornets Stay Undefeated in ODAC Play, Win 5-3

HARRISONBURG, VA - The Lynchburg College field hockey team moves to 2-0 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play and have now defeated Eastern Mennonite University the past 10 meetings with Tuesday's 5-3 victory.

Hannah Krause found Danielle Kreider 10 minutes in to get the Hornets on the board as the senior tipped it in from the right side. Kreider picked up her third goal of the season four minutes later when Kelsey Link found her for a solid shot into the back of the cage.

Camille Williams got the game within one goal when she put her eighth score past the Hornet goalie at 16:18.

Morgan Lammando rounded out the scoring for the Hornets in the first half off a Catherine Rogerson assist.

Alyssa Mills found Taylor Quillen early in the second to extend Lynchburg's lead back to three goals, 4-1, but Emily Ausburger and Jenessa Derstine each scored in a seven minute span to cut the lead back to one with 17 minutes to play.

Kelsey Link added an insurance tally for the Hornets at 62:32 when she sent a rebound into the cage.

Lynchburg maintained a 19-13 lead in shots and 17-7 advantage in penalty corners. Hannah Daley made six saves for EMU (2-9/1-1) while Beka Hess made two stops for the Hornets.

Lynchburg (5-6/2-0) host Bridgewater College Friday for a 7 p.m. ODAC start.
