LC Field Hockey Rallies for 2-1 win over Alvernia
LYNCHBURG, VA – Two second-half goals lifted the Lynchburg College field hockey team to a 2-1 come-from-behind victory over visiting Alvernia University (PA) in a non-conference matchup.
Margaret Wentzel put the Crusaders on the board 23 minutes in with an unassisted tally, and Alvernia took the one-goal lead into intermission.
The Hornets tied the score at the 49:28 mark, as senior Katie Kline scored from Alyssa Mills. LC went ahead on a penalty stroke with 13 minutes remaining, with freshman Elaine Ritschard converting to put LC ahead for good.
The Hornets held advantages in shots (35-13) and penalty corners (16-10). Erin Wunsch made 17 saves for Alvernia (1-2), while Beka Hess made six stops for LC.
Lynchburg (2-1) hosts two games next weekend, Lebanon Valley Saturday at 4 p.m. and Dickinson Sunday at 2 p.m.
