Shannon Allan Nets 22 as LC Women Win 70-55 at Randolph
LYNCHBURG, VA – Senior forward Shannon Allan scored a game-high 22 points Tuesday night as the Lynchburg College women's basketball team defeated Randolph College 70-55 in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) contest.
The first half was low scoring and evenly played for nearly the entire 20 minutes. The host WildCats led by four points with two minutes remaining, but LC closed on a 5-0 run to enter intermission ahead 27-26.
The Hornets took control of the game early in the second half, using a 9-2 surge in the first three minutes to take a 36-28 lead. Randolph could get no closer than five points the rest of the way, and LC led by double figures the final 7:35.
Allan made 9-of-18 shots from the floor and 3-of-6 three pointers to go with three blocked shots on the evening. Sophomore Charmaine Hairston drilled four shots from beyond the three-point arc for 12 points and Sammi Goldsmith contributed 10 points, five assists and five rebounds. Chaney Forbush scored seven points and grabbed seven rebounds, and Lauren Penley posted seven points and three blocks. Sarah Coronel was the third Hornet with seven points.
Jensen Hoover paced Randolph (12-9/3-9 ODAC) with 13 points and six caroms. Abigail Bullins had 15 points and Chelsea Tyler added 11. Allie Druffel grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds and scored seven points.
Lynchburg (16-6/11-2) travels to ODAC-leading Eastern Mennonite University Saturday at 2 p.m. LC handed the Royals their only conference loss last month.
