Box Score Carlisle, Pa. -- The Hornets dropped the first game of a two game road trip in Pennsylvania for Fall Break after being defeated by the Red Devils, 6-1 on Friday afternoon.
Dickinson got off to a hot start, scoring in the 6th minute and just two minutes later found the back of the net again.
Sophomore Nikki Simpao was able to answer back quickly though, rattling the cage just seconds later to draw her team to within one. The 2015 All-American ranks third in the conference for goals (7), assist (4) and points (18) so far this season.
Dickinson had no plans of letting Lynchburg back into the game, scoring in the 13th minute to go back up by two and after following a corner, they would convert on a penalty stroke and head into the locker room with a comfortable 4-1 lead.
As play started in the second half, Lynchburg was able to fire shots but most went wide and the Red Devils held the ladies scoreless in the scond half and added two more goals in the second frame extending the lead to 6-1.
The Hornets were led by junior Hannah Krause who rifled eight shots, six on net, while five other Hornets added one shot each. Senior goalkeeper Beka Hess recorded seven shots and is tied for second in the ODAC for saves (60) and top five in both save percentage and goals against average.
The Hornets finish up their Fall Break tomorrow, Oct. 8th with a 1:00 p.m. machup with the Spartans of York College and return home on Oct. 15th for Homecoming Weekend when they host Washington & Lee at 12:30 p.m.
