LC Baseball Finishes Methodist Diamond Invitational
FAYETTEVILLE, NC – The Lynchburg College baseball team concluded play at the Methodist University Diamond Invitational Sunday, falling 4-1 to the host Monarchs.
The Hornets rapped eight base-hits on the afternoon, all from different players, but left seven runners stranded. Trailing 1-0, Lynchburg pushed a run across in the top of the fourth after two Methodist errors. MU scored twice in the sixth to go ahead 3-1 and added an insurance run in the seventh. LC had runners on first and second with no outs in the eighth, but couldn't cut into the Monarch lead.
Michael Day worked 6 1/3 innings on the mound for LC, allowing 10 hits while striking out five. Logan Woodall threw 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief.
Travis Johnson earned the win for 17th-ranked Methodist (4-3), tossing seven innings without allowing an earned run. Alex Rodriguez had three hits and scored two runs.
Lynchburg (3-7) travels to Ferrum College Tuesday for a single non-conference game at 4 p.m.
