Box Score Salem, Va. -- Molly Shephard (Charlottesville, Va.) and Caroline Naumann (Mechanicsville, Va.) each notched double-doubles as Lynchburg College's women's basketball team blew past Meredith, 71-34, in Saturday's opening contest of the Susan Dunagan Holiday Classic at Roanoke College.
Shephard tallied 18 points to go with 10 rebounds, and Naumann piled up 10 points and 10 boards in the blowout win. Brittany Afolabi-Brown (Montgomery Village, Md.) had 11 points, six rebounds, and four steals for LC.
Kimberly Schuh led Meredith with 16 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Hornets started the game on a 14-3 run and never looked back. Shephard scored seven of her game-high 18 in the first period.
- Shephard added seven more points in the second quarter to lead Lynchburg to a 39-14 lead at intermission.
- Lynchburg's defense held Meredith to just a 14-for-51 (27.5 percent) shooting clip.
LOOKING AHEAD
The Hornets will take the court in Salem again on Sunday with a noon tip-off against Franklin & Marshall College.
