Lynchburg defeated Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) opponent Bridgewater 8-3 Saturday afternoon on Fox Field.
Game 1 Breakdown
- Senior Zack Englemann got the start for the Hornets, pitching 7.1 innings while only allowing two earned runs
- Bridgwater got on the board first in the first inning with a homerun to right field
- The Hornets answered in the second inning when sophomore Thomas Powell hit a sacrifice fly to right field that brought in Griffin Wild
- In the third inning, junior Dallas Jonson was beamed in the back which brought in senior Will Hylton
- The following batter sophomore Chris Blake was walked to bring in another Hornet run
- Powell drove in his second run of the game to score junior Luke Rodgers to put Lynchburg up 4-1
-The Hornets would add two more runs in the sixth inning when sophomore Nathan Sharp doubled to right field, scoring senior Ryan Katona
- Rodgers would hit a sacrifice fly to left field to score Will Harris
- Bridgewater would add one in the eighth inning to make it 6-3 in favor of Lynchburg
- Rodgers hit a double in the eighth inning to score two more Hornet runs and give himself three RBIs on the day

The Hornets were supposed to play a double header Saturday but due to weather the second game will be played tomorrow on Fox Field against Bridgewater at 2 p.m. start.
