Lynchburg was unable come away with a victory vs. the Generals of Washington & Lee during a Saturday doubleheader.
Game 1 Breakdown
- The Generals jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead in the first inning with four singles and a double
- Washington & Lee would add three more runs in the third inning to take a comfortable 9-0 lead
- A wild pitch in the fifth inning would put the Hornets down 10-0
- Senior Will Hylton went deep to left field to put Lynchburg within nine
- Junior Kenneth Parks would drive home junior Luke Rodgers in the eighth inning to cut the deficit to eight but it wasn't enough as Lynchburg fell 10-2
- Washington & Lee starting pitcher Tom Concklin pitched a complete game
Game 2 Breakdown
- In the opening inning, senior Will Hylton scored on a General error to give Lynchburg a 1-0 lead
- Senior Ryan Katona would score on a wild pitch to give the Hornets a two run lead after one inning
- During the third inning, Rodgers singled up the middle of the infield to score sophomore Nathan Sharp
- Moving the runners were the Hornets in the same inning when sophomore Griffin Wild singled to right center field to score sophomore Chris Blake
- Washington and Lee would score two runs in the bottom half of the third inning to cut the Hornet lead to just two runs
- The Generals would eventually tie the game in the fourth inning when they turned a Hornet error and four hits into three runs
- With the game all tied at six after nine innings of play, the Generals hit a walk-off single up the middle of the infield to secure a 7-6 victory over Lynchburg in the the 10th inning
