Lynchburg Baseball Drops Both Games to Emory & Henry

Around the Horn:

Lynchburg could not pick up a win over the Wasps during a Saturday ODAC doubleheader, falling 8-5 and 10-4.

Game 1 Breakdown:

- Lynchburg jumped out to an early lead in game one, bringing two runs across the plate.  Junior Matt Ward singled to bring home senior Will Hylton, and was then followed by junior Luke Rodgers knocking in junior Nathan Sharp with a single of his own   

- Many zeroes were put on the board before the bottom of the sixth, when the Wasps scored one with a solo home run  

- Junior Will Harris sent a double in the gap in the top of the 7th inning, plating Sharp and Hylton to make the score 4-1 in Lynchburg's favor  
- Emory & Henry would score one in the bottom half of the 7th to keep it close
- The Wasps gave themselves a spark in their half of the 8th, plating six runs to take the lead for good
 
- A 9th inning rally would fall short for the Hornets, with Ward knocking in Sharp on a single to bring the score to its final of 8-5
 
 - Kyle Creasy picked up the win for the Wasps, throwing 1.2 innings out of the bullpen

Game 2 Breakdown: 

- The Wasps scored multiple runs in four straight innings to hold Lynchburg back in game two of the doubleheade

- Ward scored the first run for the Hornets in the top of the 5th inning on a passed ball

- Harris picked up an RBI single in the top of the 6th, scoring Hylton
- In the top of the 8th, the Hornets tried to spark a comeback, fueled by a solo home run by Hylton to lead off the inning
 
- Ward picked a RBI single two batters later, bringing home Sharp to make it 10-4 in favor of the Wasps    
 
- Gavin Felty picked up the win for the Wasps, tossing seven innings while only allowing two runs on four hits  
 
On Deck:

The Hornets play host in a key conference matchup on Wednesday against rival Roanoke.  First pitch is slatted for 3 p.m. on Fox Field.
