Lynchburg could not pick up a win over the #10 Yellow Jackets during a Saturday ODAC doubleheader.
Game 1 Breakdown:
- Hits were spread out by both teams consistently throughout the ballgame, with Lynchburg picking up 19 hits and Randolph-Macon knocking around 16 hits in game one
- Senior Will Hylton gave the Hornets an early lead with a lead-off solo home run in the top of the first inning. Senior Ryan Katona would knock in junior Luke Rodgers to tie the game up at two in the second inning.
- A three run fourth inning would boost a Yellow Jacket lead, but was immediately answered with two runs in the top of the fifth for the Hornets, with junior Nathan Sharp and Rodgers bringing in a run each on singles
- Down by two in the eighth, Hylton would come through with a game tying two RBI single, bringing in Katona and sophomore Griffin Wild
- The Yellow Jackets would answer back quickly, plating six runs in the bottm of the eighth to take the lead for good
- A late Hornet rally would fall short in the ninth, bringing the game-tying run to the plate after RBI singles by Katona and Hylton
- Hylton and Katona both finished with four hits to lead the Lynchburg offense, with four and two RBIs respectively
- Rick Spiers picked up the win for Randolph-Macon after going four innings out of the bullpen
Game 2 Breakdown
- The Yellow Jacket offense kept the momentum rolling into Game 2, plating 17 runs
- The Hornet offense would spread out seven hits total, lead by Rodgers with two
- Randolph-Macon's Nick Roth III pitched a complete game shutout in the win
