Box Score Winston-Salem, N.C. -- Rachel Cooke (Charlottesville, Va.) headed in the golden goal in overtime, and the Hornets remained unbeaten with a 2-1 road victory over Salem College on Saturday afternoon. Emily Maxwell (Quantico, Va.) assisted the game-winner.
Lynchburg trailed entering the final two minutes of regulation, but Caitlin Mertens (Succasunna, N.J.) tied the game with an unassisted score in the 89th minute to force overtime.
The Hornets controlled the vast majority of the game, out-shooting Salem 27-3 in the game.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Neither team managed to score before halftime as Lynchburg out-shot the Spirits, 11-2, in the first 45 minutes of play.
- Salem took a 1-0 lead in the 71st minute on Jasmine Romero's goal.
- Mertens played the hero for LC, tying the game in the 89th minute to send the game to OT.
- Kennedy Jakubek's (Leesburg, Va.) corner kick in the 98th minute found Maxwell. Lynchburg's All-American defender headed the ball toward Cooke, who used her own noggin to score the decisive goal.
LOOKING AHEAD
The Hornets hit the road again Tuesday, Sept. 19, this time north to the Old Line State, where they'll take on St. Mary's (Md.).
