Box Score Lynchburg, Va. -- The Lynchburg College field hockey team defeated Eastern Mennonite in a 9-0 shutout at Liberty University Saturday night to collect its first Old Dominion Athletic Conference win of the season.
Nikki Simpao (Stafford, Va.) dominated the field with three goals and two assists, putting her atop ODAC leaderboard for points (20) and assists (6) this season.
Junior forward Isabella Eldridge (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) also added on three goals of her own for the Hornets with an assist from Lacey Elliott (Newport News, Va.).
Freshman Jackie Lerro (Royersford, Pa.) found the back of the cage twice, and Elliott also collected one goal for LC.

HOW IT HAPPENED

In the first half, four different Hornets were able to score. Eldridge started off the scoring spread in the 10th minute. Elliot followed with a goal assisted by Simpao, and LC added another goal by Lerro with an assist from Karissa LeMaire (Dewey Beach, Del.). Then, before ending the half, Simpao scored her first goal of the night to bring the Hornets up 4-0.

The Hornets wasted no time after halftime with back-to-back goals from Eldridge, followed by back-to-back goals from Simpao.

Lerro finished up the night with a ball in the cage, making the final score 9-0 over the Royals.
LOOKING AHEAD
The Hornets hit the road Tuesday, Oct. 3, to face Lebanon Valley in Shippensburg, Pa. at 6 p.m.
