HOW IT HAPPENED
-
Lynchburg's defense held strong in the early going, thwarting several Profs opportunities before Rachel Galante opened the scoring in the 11th minute. Lynchburg threatened right back, forcing Rowan to save a pair of shots before the hosts added another goal, this one from Julie Johnson in the 19th minute. Nicks made three more saves to keep the score where it was headed into halftime.
-
Galante gave Rowan some breathing room out of halftime, scoring in the 40th minute. Sophomore defender Hayden Shockley (Milford, Del.) recorded a defensive save just before the goal.
-
Lynchburg ruined the shutout in the 48th minute, when Lerro's pass found Simpao right in front of the goal, and the All-American chipped it past the Profs' keeper.
