Box Score Lexington, Va. -- Emily Dudley and Maggie Chiappazzi each scored goals, Laurel Nicks made six saves in the cage, and the 19th-ranked University of Lynchburg field hockey team toppled host Washington and Lee Wednesday in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference clash.
Dudley put the Hornets (13-3, 6-0 ODAC) ahead in the sixth minute, finishing after Jackie Lerro's shot was saved by the Generals' goalkeeper.
Chiappazzi scored just before halftime in the 28th, taking a deflection from freshman Sarah McCollum and finishing to give Lynchburg some breathing room.
Nicks kept W&L (7-6, 4-1) off the board late as four of her six saves came after halftime. It was the fourth shutout of the season for the junior and the fifth of the season for the Hornet defense.
Lynchburg, winners of eight straight, will look to stay unbeaten in league play Saturday at Bridgewater. The game is set for a 1 p.m. start.
