Box Score Lynchburg, Va. -- The No. 19-ranked University of Lynchburg field hockey team defeated Ferrum 14-0 in the rain Wednesday evening, capping off a perfect 8-0 record in regular-season Old Dominion Athletic Conference play.
The Hornets (15-3, 8-0 ODAC) set the program's single-game record for assists with 11, as Alexis Brown led the way with four on the night and Emily Dudley scored three times in the victory.
Dudley started the scoring in the fifth minute on an assist from junior Jackie Lerro. She scored twice more after that to complete her hat trick. Lerro went on to score twice herself and added two assists.
Nine different Hornet players scored -- including first-career goals from freshmen Kim Sheldon and Sydney Metz -- and Lynchburg totaled 62 shots on the night. The defense did not allow a shot from the Panthers (2-15, 0-7).
Junior Laurel Nicks and sophomore Alex Boatwright split time in the cage and combined for Lynchburg's sixth shutout win of the season.
The Lynchburg field hockey team will be back in action on Sunday, Nov. 3 as they travel to The College of Wooster as the Hornets take on the Fighting Scots at noon to round out their regular season.
