Wooster, Ohio -- Head coach Enza Steele earned career win No. 600 Sunday afternoon as the No. 19-ranked University of Lynchburg field hockey team defeated Wooster, 3-1.

Steele, the Hornets' head coach since 1979, is just the fifth head coach in NCAA field hockey history to have 600 career wins and is only the third Division III head coach to accomplish the feat. She holds the 23rd highest winning percentage of any active NCAA field hockey coach. Her Lynchburg teams have enjoyed 21 straight winning seasons.

Sunday, the Hornets (16-3) got unassisted goals from Jackie Lerro, Maggie Chiappazzi, and Kessa Romero.

Lerro got the scoring started with a goal in the sixth minute, and Chiappazzi found the back of the cage off of her own rebounded shot in the eighth minute. The freshman, Romero, solidified the win with a goal of her own late in the third quarter.

The Fighting Scots (5-12) answered in the fourth quarter with a goal from Caitlyn O'Connor on an assist from Katie Agatucci, but it was not enough to overcome the deficit.

Lynchburg finished its regular season on an 11-game win streak that began back on September 29 with a 4-3 victory over then-No. 2 Rowan University.

The Lynchburg field hockey team will be back in action in the semifinal round of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference tournament on Friday, Nov. 8 at 4:30 p.m. as they host the winner of No. 5-seeded Roanoke College and No. 4-seeded Randolph Macon College on Shellenberger Field. As the top seed, the Hornets will play host to both semifinals and Saturday's ODAC championship.
