Fredericksburg, Va. -- University of Lynchburg's baseball team rallied in the middle innings on its way to a 9-2 win at Mary Washington Tuesday afternoon.

Freshman left fielder Kaden Warren (Berryville, Va.) led the Hornets' offense, going 2-for-5 with four RBI, three of them on a bases-loaded double in the fourth inning.

Sophomore center fielder Parker Shaffer (Richmond, Va.) reached base thrice and scored three runs, and freshman third baseman Garrett Jackson (Virginia Beach, Va.) had two hits and drove in a pair.

Sophomore right-hander Jason Wood (Gloucester, Va.) pitched two scoreless innings in relief to earn the win.

• Lynchburg scored three runs in the third on an RBI single from Warren and a two-run double by Jackson.

• Lynchburg brought the score to its final standing in the ninth on an RBI double by sophomore first baseman Avery Combs (Lynchburg, Va.).

LOOKING AHEAD

Lynchburg added a single game with NCAA Division I opponent Lehigh set for Thursday, March 14 at 1 p.m. on James C. Fox Field. The Hornets are also scheduled for home doubleheaders with Rutgers-Camden and Eastern Mennonite on this Spring Break weekend.
