HOW IT HAPPENED
-
Jackson put the Hornets up early with a sacrifice fly in the top of the first, but VWU took a 4-1 lead in the bottom half of the inning.
-
The Marlins led 5-1 entering the sixth before Lynchburg rallied. Warren led off the frame with a single, later stealing third and scoring as the throw skipped into left field. Freshman center fielder Carrson Atkins (Charlottesville, Va.) added an RBI single, which Sheeder followed with a bases-loaded walk to bring the Hornets within a run. A Marlins fielding miscue allowed Lynchburg to tie the game, and Warren put Lynchburg ahead with a two-run single. Jackson's RBI single capped the seven-run frame.
-
Sheeder singled home an insurance run in the seventh, and Lynchburg held on to win.
