Box Score Hampden Sydney, Va. -- University of Lynchburg's baseball team took the lead in the second inning but couldn't hold on Wednesday, dropping an 11-3 decision at Hampden-Sydney in Old Dominion Athletic Conference play.
Freshman second baseman PJ Alvanos (Annapolis, Md.) drove in all three Hornet runs with a bases-clearing triple in the second.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Tigers jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after an inning of play, but Lynchburg jumped in front, 3-2, by means of Alvanos' two-out triple in the top of the second.

The Hornet lead didn't last long as H-SC scored five runs in the bottom of the second and two more in the third to take control.

Hampden-Sydney brought the score to its final standing with single runs in the fifth and seventh innings.

Sophomore left-hander Adam Dofflemyer (Harrisonburg, Va.) and senior righty Graham Boggio (Midlothian, Va.) turned in scoreless relief outings for the Hornets.
LOOKING AHEAD
The Hornets will continue ODAC play Saturday, April 17 against Bridgewater College. First pitch of the doubleheader is set for noon. The team will celebrate Senior Day prior to the ballgames.
