HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Lynchburg got the scoring started early in the first quarter with goals by freshman midfielder Josiah Martin (Lynchburg, Va.) and senior attackman Evan Lombardo (Franklin Park, N.J.), but the Maroons tied the game, 2-2, with back-to-back goals. Both teams scored again in the period to head into the second tied at 3.

  • Lynchburg poured it on after halftime, scoring four unanswered goals out of the break. Rogers got the scoring started with an unassisted goal and then found senior attackman Logan Adams (Grosse Pointe, Mich.) for another score. Thomas and Willertz finished off the run.

  • McDonald put an exclamation point on the 5-2 third, taking a feed from junior defender Tyler Gallagher (Palmyra, Pa.) off the face-off and streaking down the field to score. It was Gallagher's first-career assist.
  • Lynchburg stretched out the lead in the fourth as Thomas, Rogers, Lombardo and Willertz each added goals.
