Lynchburg, Va. -- Sophomore Erin Green recorded a career high 16 rebounds as the University of Lynchburg women's basketball team took down the Quakers of Guilford College Tuesday night in a mid-week Old Dominion Athletic Conference matchup. 

Green's career night led the Hornets (7-6, 4-2 ODAC) along with 11 points from fellow sophomore Alissa Smalls. Green bested her previous career high of 13 while recording five blocks for the fourth time this season.

Lynchburg controlled much of the first half after ending the first quarter tied at 9-9. The Hornets held the Quakers (7-4, 3-3) at the end of the first half after recording two defensive stops. After a missed 3-pointer from junior Carolyn Noe, sophomore Meredith Vetter made a put-back layup to put the Hornets on top by eight to end the half. It was their largest lead of the night. 

Coming out of the half, Guilford quickly tied the game at 28 apiece after a Carisma Lynn layup. The quarter went back-and-forth and the game went into the last quarter knotted up at 35-35. 

Guilford took the lead to begin the final quarter but after a Quaker turnover, the Hornets took it back on a 3-pointer from sophomore Emily Elliott to put Lynchburg up 40-39. The Hornets led for the rest of the contest and came out on top with a 50-46 victory.

The University of Lynchburg women's basketball team will be back in action on Saturday, Jan. 11 as the Hornets travel to Winchester, Va. to take on Shenandoah University with tip-off slated for 2 p.m.
