Box Score Lynchburg, Va. -- The fifth-ranked University of Lynchburg men's lacrosse team errupted for 20 goals against Old Dominion Athletic Conference foe Roanoke College in the Hornets' 20-10 win Saturday on Shellenberger Field.
Graduate student Trammel Robinson and junior Ryan Kenney combined for 11 of the Hornets' 20. Robinson put up six goals, and Kenney accounted for five.
The Hornets (9-2, 4-1 ODAC) got on the board at the 10:25 mark after junior Kyle Lewis zipped one by the Maroon's goalkeeper to put Lynchburg up. The Maroons (5-3, 3-2) answered with a goal of their own three minutes later to knot the contest at 1-1.
Both teams traded goals for much of the first two quarters, but with the game tied at 4-4, it was Lynchburg that pulled away before halftime as the Hornets scored six goals in the final 10 minutes of the second quarter to lead 10-4 at the half.
Lynchburg continued its scoring run into the start of the third quarter as Kenney and Robinson each scored to put the Hornets up 12-4 with 10:20 left in the quarter. The Maroons scored once more but Lynchburg tacked on six to finish the third.
Roanoke doubled its goal total in the fourth, but it was not enough to get back in the game as Lynchburg won its third in a row and fourth of its last five.
Graduate student Colin Dean added a hat trick for the Hornets offense while Riley Mitchell and Kyle Lewis each had a pair of goals with Lewis adding five assists. Lynchburg goalie Patrick Moore recorded nine saves in 18 attempts in goal as the sophomore earned his ninth win on the year.
The Hornets look to extend their win streak to four in a row next Saturday as Lynchburg travels to Bridgewater College for another ODAC matchup. First whistle is set for 4 p.m.
