Box Score Lynchburg, Va. -- Trammel Robinson scored four times to lead the charge as the No. 3-ranked University of Lynchburg men's lacrosse team rolled over Washington and Lee, 13-6, Saturday evening at home.
The Hornets avenged a 12-10 road loss to W&L Friday night and snapped a three-game losing skid against their rivals from Lexington. Saturday's game did not count in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference standings.
Robinson, a graduate student from Memphis, Tenn., came out hot, scoring three of the Hornets' first four goals to help Lynchburg to a 4-1 advantage midway through the first quarter.
W&L (4-3) closed the gap to 4-2 before the quarter's end, but Lynchburg quickly earned some breathing room in the second thanks to goals from Brett Rogers and Dylan Wolfe in the period's first three minutes.
Rogers and Colin Dean scored later in the period to take Lynchburg into the half with an 8-3 lead.
The Hornets (7-2) broke the game open with a 3-0 run to start the third, and Robinson and Wolfe added exclamation-point goals in the final four minutes of the game to widen the gap.
Rogers and Wolfe finished with two goals apiece, while Dean and Kyle Lewis both had a goal and three assists on the day.
Long-stick midfielder Chris Darminio tallied four caused turnovers, three ground balls, and a goal, and senior midfielder Clayton Jones corralled a team-best seven ground balls and caused a pair of turnovers.
Lynchburg improved to 6-0 at home in 2021 with the victory.
The Hornets will look to extend that streak Wednesday with a return to ODAC play when Ferrum comes to town for a 7 p.m. contest.
