Box Score Ashland, Va. -- University of Lynchburg's 19th-ranked field hockey team cruised to a 3-0 Old Dominion Athletic Conference win at Randolph-Macon Monday afternoon.
The Hornets got goals from Emily Yanes, Aaryn Boatwright, and Franka Weronek in the victory.
Yanes got Lynchburg on the board early, deflecting a ball from Meike Ottjes into the cage in in the fourth minute for an early Hornets lead.
That advantage held until the second quarter, when Boatwright collected a Ryleigh Cameron pass in the 21st minute after a penalty corner and doubled the Lynchburg advantage. Weronek scored unassisted a minute later to give Lynchburg the 3-0 lead the Hornets defended through halftime and throughout the second 30 minutes of play.
Hornets goalie Kayla Brady saved the lone shot sent her way to preserve her third shutout of the season.
Lynchburg (10-3, 2-1 ODAC) will look for its third ODAC win of 2022 Wednesday at Ferrum at 6 p.m.
