Ferrum, Va. -- The No. 19-ranked University of Lynchburg field hockey team earned another Old Dominion Athletic Conference victory Wednesday evening, besting host Ferrum by a 12-0 tally on the road.

Marlou Wendriks became the first Hornet since 2018 and just the eighth player in program history to score five goals in a game, leading the way for the Lynchburg offense. Wendriks also added an assist, and four Hornets – Madison Adcock, Sarah McCollum, Meike Ottjes, and Kessa Romero – each added a goal and an assist.

Lynchburg leapt out to a 6-0 lead in the first quarter, spurred by Ottjes' fourth-minute goal. Wendriks scored four of her five in the opening 15 minutes to help the Hornets out to a comfortable lead. Lynchburg added three more goals in the second, one in the third, and two in the fourth to run away with victory, bookending the game with Wendriks' fifth in the final minute.

Meanwhile, the Hornet defense allowed just one shot on the evening.

Lynchburg (11-3, 3-1 ODAC) will look for a third conference win of the week Saturday when the program celebrates Homecoming at 1:30 p.m. against Bridgewater on Shellenberger Field.
