Rustburg, Va. -- Freshman Elle Nutting won high-point rider honors to lead University of Lynchburg's Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association team to a reserve-champion finish Saturday at the Lynchburg IHSA.
Nutting won the Limit Flat division and was second over Intermediate Fences for the Hornets.
Freshman Hope Jordan also brought home a blue ribbon, winning the Novice Flat, as did senior Joseph Gatti, who won the Introductory Flat.
Junior Shannon Huth added a second-place finish in Intermediate Fences, and three Hornet riders – senior Lori Ohannessian, sophomore Alexandria Russell, and freshman Zoey Horn won third-place ribbons. Ohannessian was third over Open Fences, while Russell and Horn brought home white ribbons over Limit Fences A and B divisions, respectively.
Ohannessian also took fifth place in Open Flat A, and fellow senior Kayla Hudnell was fifth in Open Flat B. Sophomore Emily Simmons also chipped in a fifth-place result on Limit Flat.
Lynchburg scored a season-high 36 points at the show to tie Hollins as the reserve team champion. University of Virginia was the show champion with 37 team points.
Lynchburg's IHSA team will continue the fall portion of its schedule next Sunday, Oct. 23 at Washington and Lee's show.
