Blacksburg, Va. -- University of Lynchburg's Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association team extended its lead in the region standings Saturday with a team championship at the Virginia Tech IHSA. Lynchburg collected 37 points in the win.
Senior Lori Ohannessian and junior Shannon Huth both brought home blue ribbons on the day. Ohannessian was first over Open Fences and added a runner-up result in Open Flat, and Huth took first in Intermdiate Flat and third over that division's fences.
Sophomore Alexandria Russell won a pair of second-place ribbons in Limit Fences and Limit Flat, and senior Kayla Hudnell was third on Open Flat and sixth in Open Fences.
Five other riders -- freshman Elle Nutting (fourth, Intermidiate Fences), freshman Zoey Horn (second, Limit Fences), junior Iris Moseley (third, Novice Flat), junior Natalie Michaels (third, Novice Flat), and freshman Chloie Massey (third, Introductory Flat) -- earned ribbons for the Hornets as well.
With the high-point team title for the second-straight week, Lynchburg extended its lead on first in the IHSA's Zone 4 Region 2 to 14 points.
