Box Score Salem, Va. -- University of Lynchburg's women's basketball team saw its postseason run come to an end in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference tournament semifinals Saturday evening, dropping a 67-51 decision to Randolph-Macon at the Salem Civic Center.
Olivia Harris led the Hornets with 18 points, while Erin Green ended her Lynchburg career 10 points, five rebounds, and three assists.
Second-seeded Randolph-Macon got out to an early 16-9 lead, but Harris sank a pair of 3-pointers around a Kate Kolb layup for an 8-0 run and trailed by just three points, 20-17, after a quarter of play.
The Yellow Jackets knocked down two straight 3s to open the second quarter, but Lynchburg again mustered a response. Lizzie Davis' jumper with 4:20 until halftime cut the R-MC lead down to six. The Yellow Jackets opened the lead back to 10 by intermission, however, and took a 40-30 lead into the half.
Lynchburg, the No. 6 seed in the tournament, never again got the lead under six. Aimee DeBell scored 14 points for Randolph-Macon in the second half to help the Yellow Jackets maintain the lead, and Lynchburg shot just 6-for-25 from the field in the final 20 minutes as the season came to a close.
Davis, the 2021 ODAC tournament's most outstanding player, finished with seven points to wrap up her four seasons with 992 career points. She ranks 12th on the Hornets' all-time scoring list.
Lynchburg ended its first season under head coach Allison Nichols with a 16-11 record, and the Hornets reached the conference tournament semifinals for the seventh time in the past 10 seasons.
