Box Score Salem, Va. -- Olivia Harris scored 13 points, Kate Kolb added a double-double, but University of Lynchburg's women's basketball team fell victim to a third-quarter rally Wednesday, falling 67-50 to rival Roanoke on the road.
The Hornets got out to an early 8-4 lead propelled by Harris' 3-pointer midway through the first, but the Maroons quickly closed the gap and led 15-14 at the first break. Lynchburg began the second hot as well, scoring the period's first six points to open up a five-point lead, and the Hornets carried that into halftime with a 26-24 advantage.
RC's offense exploded after the half. Kristina Harrel opened the period with a 3-pointer for the Maroons, and Roanoke raced to 32 points in the 10-minute span (including a 12-0 run) to take control of the contest.
Harris' 13 points off the bench marked the 13th time this season the freshman reached double-figure scoring, and Kolb, who had 10 points and 10 rebounds, collected her third double-double in the Hornets' past six games. Lizzie Davis scored nine points and dished out four assists, bumping the senior into the program's career top five in the category (312), and Erin Green's four blocks pushed the senior over 200 for her career, making her the first Lynchburg basketball player, male or female, to reach that milestone. Green also scored seven points.
Lynchburg (12-9, 8-6 Old Dominion Athletic Conference) will look to get back on the winning track Saturday when Shenandoah pays a visit to Turner Gymnasium. The program will celebrate Senior Day prior to the 4:30 p.m. tip.
