Box Score Salisbury, Md. -- The No. 6-ranked University of Lynchburg men's lacrosse team saw its season-opening win streak come to an end, dropping a 15-6 decision to host and second-ranked Salisbury on the road Saturday afternoon.
The teams started off evenly matched, playing the first quarter to a 3-3 tie after Riley Mitchell scored at the horn to knot the score.
Salisbury took control in the second period with five unanswered goals and entered halftime with an 8-3 advantage.
Lynchburg couldn't manage to climb back into the game in the second half, going just 4-for-12 at the face-off X and managing just nine shots on goal in the 30 minutes.
Ryan Kenney had a team-best two goals and assisted another one for the Hornets, while Kyle Lewis assisted a pair of Lynchburg goals. Dylan Shuster led the defensive unit with a pair of caused turnovers and two ground balls.
Lynchburg's men's lacrosse team will return to play at home Saturday, March 12 against St. Mary's (Md.) with a 1 p.m. face-off. The Hornets (3-1) have won 16 straight games on Shellenberger Field.
