Box Score Lynchburg, Va. -- University of Lynchburg baseball fell 10-2 against Birmingham-Southern in Game 4 of the NCAA Lynchburg Regional Saturday afternoon.
The 11th-ranked Hornets matched up with the Panthers for the second time in 2022 previously meeting on Feb. 20 in Alabama.
The Hornets struck first with two runs in the first off the bats of Riley O'Donovan and Gavin Collins. However, the Panthers scored 10 runs in innings three through six and never relinquished the lead.
Eric Hiett grabbed his first-career postseason hit with a single up the middle in the ninth. Avery Neaves walked and doubled in the game extending both his on-base streak to 47 games and his nation-leading walk total to 56.
After a weather postponment Saturday evening, Lynchburg (36-11) will take on Salve Regina for the second time of the weekend on Sunday, May 22 at 11 a.m. Both teams have one loss in the tournament and the loser is eliminated from competition. Tickets purchased on Saturday will be honored for Game 5 on Sunday. Game 6 will begin a new session, and new tickets will need to be purchased.
