Rustburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg equestrian team defeated Bridgewater 9-1 in National Collegiate Equestrian Association competition Friday afternoon.
The Hornets swept the action on the flat featuring Fallyn Belcastro's most-outstanding-performer ride on Carl. She scored an 81 edging out her opponent by one point. Kelley McCormick registered the highest score of any rider on the flat with an 82.
The Eagles stole the first point over fences, but the Hornets responded by taking the final four points of the day.
Belcastro put up the highest total over fences while on Eragon, and Emma Schweizer brought home MOP honors with an 87 on HD.
Lynchburg is undefeated against the Eagles in five NCEA competitions all time.
The Hornets (2-1) are the No. 1 ranked single-discipline team, and they take on No. 2 Sweet Briar on Friday, Nov. 3.
