Charlottesville, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg equestrian team finished sixth at the University of Virginia IHSA show Sunday.
On Day 1, Hollins, Washington and Lee, and Virginia Tech were tied for first with 35 points. Lynchburg had 32 points. The Hornets slid to sixth on Day 2 with 21 points.
On Saturday, Lily Dobbs placed third in introductory flat. Victoria Riordan won novice flat. Ava Hoga placed second in limit flat, and Elizabeth Teitbohl placed fifth in the same class. Alexandria Russell and Hannah Hillyer both placed third in intermediate flat. Margaret Stell came in third in open flat, and Kayla Hudnell placed sixth in the same event as Stell.
Over fences, Ava Jackson placed fourth, and Carlie Madonna placed fifth in limit fences. Stell won intermediate fences with Russell placing just behind her in second. Shannon Huth rounded out the action for Lynchburg in Charlottesville Saturday with a fifth-place finish in open fences.
On Sunday, Brynley Smith placed fifth in open fences. Stell placed third in intermediate fences and qualified for regionals.
Ava Jackson won limit fences out of one of the largest groups at the show. Kadin Bankel was seventh in the same class.
Kriston Parr placed second in limit flat, Riordan won novice flat, and Dobbs was second in intro on the flat.
