Box Score Davidson, N.C. -- The University of Lynchburg men's basketball team dropped an exhibition matchup with Davidson 98-63 on Saturday afternoon.
Taking on a Division-I opponent did not affect Lynchburg's season record. Lynchburg last defeated a DI foe in 2017 when the Hornets beat Norfolk State.
Jonathan Foust led the Hornets with 15 points.
The Hornets faced a 12-0 lead early in the first half when Davidson hit four 3s to open the game. Lynchburg responded with a 3-point barrage of its own, draining a quartet of 3s to claw back within three points with 13:50 left to play in the half. Cameron O'Conner hit two of those 3s, Foust made one, and Piercen Young drained the fourth.
Lynchburg made two more shots from deep in the first half but went into the locker room trailing 47-25.
Foust scored nine second-half points, and Michael Gray and Kavon James combined for 10 points in the last half, but the Wildcats put up 51 points in the final 20 minutes to secure the victory.
Lynchburg (5-4, 3-1 ODAC) hosts the Wayne Proffitt Classic beginning Tuesday, Dec. 19 when the Hornets take on Centre at 6 p.m. Find out more about the tournament here.
